Minors reclaim Championship & League titles.
Darcy Park in Tattyreagh brought the curtain down on the 2010 Tyrone club hurling season when we defeated Carrickmore and were crowned Tyrone Minor League champions on 1-13 to 1-5.
Tyrone minor player Kevin Grimley slotted home our goal in the first half.
Eoghan Ruadh Scorers – Damian Casey 0-8 (5 frees), Tommy Lowe 0-2, Kevin Grimley 1-2, Ciaran McCrudden 0-1
We had already won the Minor Championship on a 2-14 to 2-9 score line a few weeks prior.
Carrickmore went into the game bidding for their thirteenth consecutive success, at this level, but on the day, they came up against a dogged Dungannon side that were intent on winning under the guidance of Stephen Donnelly, Cathal McErlean and Ciaran Coyle.
Damien Casey captained the team. He contributed seven points and had plenty of assistance throughout the team with Conor McNally, Tony McCrory, Phillip Barker, Ciaran McCrudden, Tommy Lowe and Matthew Mulgrew all excelling.
Senior Championship Final
Unfortunately we failed to retain the Benburb Cup in 2010 as we fell to a 1:11 to 1:6 defeat to Carrickmore.
1-11 Dungannon Eoghain Ruadh 1-6

Senior Championship Final
Back in the Championship Final for 2012 and it was mission “stop 3 in a row”.
It wasn’t to disappoint with a dramatic end to one of the most exciting and entertaining senior hurling finals in years.
The best of the drama was reserved for the closing ten minutes as Eire Og came back from the death to draw the game level three minutes into injury time.
However Damian Casey sent over a last gasp winner to ensure the Benburb Cup would be going back to Dungannon for 2012.
There was little between the sides throughout the game with a Gary Fox first half injury time goal ensuring Carrickmore went in ahead at the break 1-5 t0 0-6.
Aidan Kelly and Damien Casey displayed nerves of steel for their teams with their unerring accuracy from frees throughout the game.
Damian helped us move three points ahead fifteen minutes into the second half and at that stage it looked like we might pull away from Eire Og.
However the Carmen lads made several switches and points from Sean Og and Martin Grogan and a Conor Grogan goal drew the teams level as the clock ticked towards full time.
It was then that the excitement reached fever pitch with goals from Kiefer Morgan, Ryan Mc Kernan and Damian’s late, late match winner.
Final score Dungannon Eoghan Ruadh 1-14, Carrickmore Eire Og 2-10.

Ulster Intermediate Q/F
Sunday 7th of October saw us enter the Ulster Intermediate Championship at the Quarter Final Stage versus Armagh Champions Cuchullians at the Athletic Grounds.
Unfortunately we were overcome on a scoreline of 2:9 to 1:7
This could not take away from a magnificent year for our Club with a clean sweep of titles across all levels.
2012 was a big year for our U14’s as we headed to Croke Park for the annual All Ireland Feile.
We narrowly lost out in the Grade 4 All Ireland Hurling Feile final losing out to Roscommon champions Padraig Pearses 1-7 to 0-8.
The lads had recorded wins over Craobh Ciaran, Toreen and Naomh Mearnog earlier in the competition.
2013
Senior Final 2013
The 2013 Final was pretty much a one sided affair.
With a nine point tally Damian Casey led the way to retaining the Benburb Cup in Dungannon for another year.
A solid defensive performance in the second half, with Ryan Winters, Pádraig McHugh and Stephen Donnelly outstanding, held Éire Óg scoreless for more than half an hour.
Dungannon corner-back Conor McNally made amends for conceding a penalty by saving Ciarán Slane’s effort.
It wasn’t until stoppage time that the losers registered their first score of the second-half, when Gary Fox flicked Conor Grogan’s free to the net.
It mattered none the less as the game was all but over anyway.
Final score Eoghan Ruadh 0:14 Eire Óg 1:5

Senior Championship Final 2018.
Eoghan Ruadh claimed the Benburb Cup for the first time since 2013 and in the process denied Eire Og Carrickmore a famous 5-in-a-row of title wins.
Having trailed by 1-8 to 0-6 at the interval, Dungannon powered through the second half with Damian Casey hitting a phenomenal 1-9 and the insurance point after a Justin Kelly goal had put 1 point between them deep in injury time.

Opening of the Manus MacGinty Community Room
In August our Manus MacGinty Community Room was officially opened.
Manus our Assistant Treasurer sadly passed away earlier in the year.
This building, consisting of a community room, two changing rooms, a third female-only changing room, referees’ suite and public toilets, has changed the lives of everyone visiting this area.
Adults and children can now enjoy their sport with changing and shower facilities and the local and visiting communities have a beautiful room for gatherings and refreshments.
It is available for use by numerous resident and community groups and organisations in the area.
After a very successful year at all age groups in 2018, the final year of this decade was looking very promising for the Club.
The Benburb Cup had returned to the town and the Minor Championship won (after a few years break) in 2018.
At the beginning of January 2019, we didn’t realise that we would be competing for Ulster Titles at both grades later in the year.
Such a step forward for the Club.
The Winter months of 2019, began with the busy underage indoor season.
Plenty of training and plenty of blitz’s in the winter to flourish outdoors in the summer.
Ulster Minor Club Final
After battling through the early rounds it was Loughgiel Shamrocks to be our challengers for the Ulster Minor title.
The Antrim champions had the aid of the breeze for the opening half and turned over with a 0-11 to 0-3 advantage.
Indeed they were six points up before we got their first score from a Cian Ferguson free after 15 minutes.
Cian Ferguson scored the other two Dungannon points from frees as well.
But things changed on the re-start when a long ball from Michael Little was pumped into the Loughgiel square and knocked down into the path of Rory Weir who pulled it to the net.
However from the puck-put, Loughgiel went up the field and they also hit the net.
When Cian Ferguson pointed two frees and Sean Paul McKernan pointed from a side-line around 45 metres out the gap between the teams was cut to 1-11 to 1-6.
Loughgiel needed to lift their game and a couple of points from Michael McGarry frees and another from Rian McMullan stretched their lead.
Just as well as the lads came back strongly with points from McKernan, Donaghy, Ferguson and Little to make for an exciting finish with Loughgiel goalkeeper Kevin McAuley making two excellent goal-line clearances and one of his defenders turning away a 20m free.
Loughgiel Shamrocks (Antrim) 1-14 Eoghan Ruadh Dungannon (Tyrone) 1-10
At the close presentations were made to the Players of the Match for each team
Conall Devlin for Eoghan Ruadh and Loughgiel’s Rian McMullan
Senior Championship Final 2019
Back to back titles overcoming Carrickmore to win the Benburb Cup.
Intensity and skill levels were high and little separated the sides during a very entertaining and eventful first half.
After an initial period of Eoghan Ruadh pressure Liam Armstrong opened the scoring for Eire Óg on four minutes.
Eoghan Ruadh hit six of the next seven scores as Damian Casey, Keifer Morgan, Matthew Mulgrew and man of the match Tiernan Morgan were all on target.
Damian and Justin Kelly swapped points before scores from Tiernan Morgan and Matthew Mulgrew put Eoghan Ruadh five clear with twenty minutes gone.
Eire Óg needed a lift and after Justin Kelly pointed a free, team captain Bryan Mc Gurk got the Carrickmore outfit back into the contest with a well taken goal.
Damian landed another brace of points to stretch the lead to three before Ryan Butler and Bryan Mc Gurk pointed to leave a single point in it with half time beckoning.
A Lorcan Devlin point right at the end of the half meant the Eoghan Ruadh lads went in at the break leading 0-13 to 1-8.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first with some big hits, fine scores and outstanding hurling.
Both teams contributed handsomely to a memorable game as the pressure mounted and the game progressed.
Justin Kelly and Damian Casey landed points for their respective teams before Dermot Begley converted a long distance free to level the game.
Damian and Kelly continued their personal scoring duel before a lovely run and finish from Tiernan Morgan edged the Dungannon men in front again.
As the game entered the last ten minutes Morgan extended his team’s lead to two before Branan Molloy was introduced from the bench. Damian landed a nice score and them Molloy pounced on a mistake in the Eire Óg defence to finish to the net and put his team six clear.
Back Carrickmore came with a brilliant placed goal from the stick of Begley and two further Kelly points to narrow the gap to two points.
Both sides went for broke and Eoghan Ruadh had chances to seal it while Eire Óg keeper Conor Mc Elhatton brought off two superb saves to keep his team in the game.
Five minutes of additional time were announced and in spite of tiring bodies there was no let up in the pace or quality of the game.
Eoghan Ruadh ace Damian Casey pointed but Dermot Begley cancelled that one out with another fine effort for Eire Óg to leave the final score 1-20 to 2-15 in favour of the East Tyrone men.
A brilliant game, well refereed and enjoyed by the huge crowd in attendance as the celebrations began.
Onwards in Ulster
The Quarter Final draw was played on the 12th of October in Brewster Park against Fermanagh Champions Lisbellaw.
With Damian Casey scoring a personal tally of 2:7 the lads ran out victorious on a scoreline of 4:16 to 3:15.
History was made after overcoming Keady in the semi final in what was a truly memorable game after recovering from a poor start to defeat the favourites by 4 points.
Damian Casey was in outstanding form hitting twelve of his team’s points with four scores coming from open play.
Defensively Mark Winters and Stephen Donnelly formed an almost impenetrable wall through the middle which the Keady forwards found difficult to breach.
Team captain Conor Mc Nally, Sean Donaghy, Duibhir Marshall and Josh Ferguson worked tirelessly particularly after the break to deny the Keady front men time and space.
Their hunger for the loose ball was a key factor in the final outcome.
Keady started brightly playing into the breeze and moved three ahead.
The lads took a while to settle but with Marty Devlin, Damian Casey and Tiernan Morgan leading the line they were soon in front.
Points from Damian (4) and Marty had the Tyrone side one up with eleven minutes on the clock.
We could have been further ahead but for a brilliant save from Keady goalkeeper Joby Burke who denied Branan Molloy with an outstanding stop.
A fine passing move involving Damian, Matthew Mulgrew and Kiefer Morgan resulted in a goal that was to prove crucial to the outcome of the game.
Paul Green and Conor Corvan pointed for Keady but Damian was in outstanding form and sent over four superb points to send us in at the break 1-9 to 0-8 ahead.
Eoghan Ruadh suffered an injury blow minutes before the break when key man Marty Devlin was forced off due to injury.
However his replacement Padraig Mc Hugh slotted seamlessly into the engine room and made a huge contribution to his team’s cause.
With a very strong wind after the turnaround we out fought our opponents throughout a very tough second period.
Tiernan Morgan and Mattie Mulgrew chipped in with points as we matched Keady every step of the way.
Keady’s Fionntán Donnelly was very accurate from placed balls for Keady hitting four fine second half points.
However with the game in the melting pot and time running out the free taker sent a forty five metre free wide.
That would have narrowed the gap to a single point.
That miss was magnified when we broke up the field and Damian extended his team’s lead to three before Kiefer Morgan sealed the victory with a fine point.
The whistle blew and we had just booked our first Ulster Intermediate Final Place.
Ulster Intermediate Final – 19th November 2019
The Ulster Final was rescheduled following an unplayable pitch the week prior at Owenbeg.
The location was refixed for Celtic Park Derry with Antrim Champions St Enda’s the opposition.
The lads from North Belfast were being managed by former All Star Cushendall’s Sambo Mc Naughton.
Colm McGuinness had us well prepared for the challenge that lay ahead. All year he had the belief instilled in us that we could go the distance and win this title.
He had done a mighty job.
There was such a big wind blowing down the field and we had the advantage of it in the first half.
We were a class above Naomh Éanna in the first half scoring 2-2 in the space of four minutes to take control and but for a heroic piece of defending from Naomh Éanna’s Rian Gillen, it could have been three goals.
We had dominated for the first 30 minutes and at the half time whistle had clocked up a comfortable lead with 2-10 to Naomh Éanna’s 1-06.
Despite being seven down as they emerged for the second half, the Antrim side refused to give up and Ruairi Donaghy’s goal six minutes in signalled the start of Naomh Éanna’s fightback.
A succession of three unanswered points brought Naomh Éanna back within two of Eoghan Ruadh as they headed into the final ten minutes and at full time the scoreboard read 2-14 a piece.
Following extra time the two sides still could not be separated with 2-20 each, as it came down to a penalty shoot-out.
Most would say a very poor way of finishing a classic like this.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for us as Naomh Eanna won 1:0 in the shoot out.
The lads gave it all with a big shout out to JD and the Naomh Eanna Goalkeeper Martin Curran for saving an outrageous 9/10 penalties.
