Tyrone Credo Awards 2024
In 2017, Tyrone Chairperson Roisin Jordan created the Credo awards.
Introduced to recognise the contribution of long serving volunteers to their clubs.
Specially designed Gold & Silver pins were presented at the time to those who have given over 50 years and 25 years service respectively.
Our Honorary President Peter McCaughey was the first club man to receive his gold pin.
Thankfully after a shelf period due to the Covid pandemic they were re – instated this year and our nominated club volunteers attended Garvaghey on the 14th of November to receive their respective pins from Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Jarlath Burns.
Gold Pin – 50 years service
Gerry Goodwin.
The Goodwin family were always a great hurling family in Dungannon.
Gerry always stood out at a young age playing both football and hurling and was destined to be one of the best for both Club and County.
He could have graced many a team in Ireland.
A member of our 1975 and 1978 Benburb Cup winning team, injury unfortunately cut his playing career short.
One of the proudest moments for his family and our Club was when Gerry won the 1982 All Ireland Poc Fada and this year -2024 was entered into the Poc Fada Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Croke Park.
From a Coaching perspective, Gerry has had many diverse roles, coaching Eglish camogs to 3 Ulster successes in the 1980’s.
In 1999 he again was part of an Ulster winning Management team as Eoghan Ruadh won their first Ulster Shield.
At present Gerry is still very active in youth coaching for our Club and is a common presence at youth night training.
We are very grateful for Gerry’s involvement with Eoghan Ruadh Hurling Club.
He is definitely up there with the many legends of our Club.
Silver Pin – 25 years service.
John Devlin.
John has been involved with GAA in Dungannon from as soon as he could hold a hurl or kick a football.
A great underage footballer for Dungannon Thomas Clarkes, hurling would always be his first love.
This followed in the footsteps of his late father Noel – a great Eoghan Ruadh Clubman.
Down through the years John has been part of every Eoghan Ruadh team. This included in 2024 at 48 years of age.
He has coached many underage teams with Eoghan Ruadh and also coached youth camogie teams with Naomh Treasa Dungannon.
An award winning shot stopper for club and county, he can be found several nights a week on the training field passing goal keeping tips to players of all ages.
An active club volunteer for several years and current PRO, John Devlin epitomises the ethos of the GAA.
Thank you both Gerry and John for your continued association with Eoghan Ruadh Hurling Club,
